Jane Austen (Steventon, England, December 16, 1775 - Winchester, England, July 18, 1817) was a noted Britishnovelist who lived during the Regency period. The irony of comedy used to give to the novels Jane Austen makes is counted among the "classics" of the English novel, as well as your reception goes, even now,beyond the academic interest, to be read by a wider audience [1].
He was born in the rectory of Steventon (Hampshire). His family belonged to the landed gentry, not out of context and in placingall his works, always around the marriage of his protagonist. The simplicity of the works of Austen, however, is merely apparent, although they may be interpreted in several ways. Academia Austen havealways considered as a conservative writer, while most current feminist criticism aimed in his work can be seen a novelization of the thought of Mary Wollstonecraft on education of women.
His workshave been made into films at different times, sometimes faithfully reproduced, as the classic Stronger Than Pride 1940, directed by Robert Z. Leonard and starring Laurence Olivier and Greer Garsonand making other adjustments to the present time, such as Clueless, free adaptation of Emma, or Sense and Sensibility, 1995, Mansfield Park, 2000, and versions of Bride and Prejudice (Gurinder Chadhadirected) in 2004, and in 2005 Pride and Prejudice (directed by Joe Wright), both based on the famous Pride and prejudice.
