NOTES:
The DSMZ has compiled a list of names of bacteria which to the best of our knowledge are validly published as defined in the International Code of Nomenclature of Bacteria (1990 revision)(Lapage, S. P. et al. (ed.), American Society for Microbiology, Washington, D.C. 1992). The list is based on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names (International Journal of Systematic Bacteriology 30: 225-420, 1980; see also Skerman et al.: Approved Lists of Bacterial Names. Amended edition 1989) and names subsequently validly published in the International Journal of Systematic Bacteriology /International Journal of Systematic and Evolutionary Microbiology (from January 2000) since January 1980 in the form of original articles or in the Validation Lists. Names not considered to be validly published should no longer be used or used in quotation marks, i.e. “Streptococcus equisimilis” to denote that the name is not validly published. Please note that names which have not been entered into theApproved Lists or subsequently validly published cannot be retrieved. This list will be updated with the publication of each new edition of International Journal of Systematic and Evolutionary Microbiology. The list is also available online. Please contact the DSMZ computer department for further details. The DSMZ accepts no responsibility for errors.
