The Recycling
1. What is recycling?
2. Waste’s classification and what kind of materials can be recycled.
3. The recycling centers.
4. Why is important to recycle? Environmental impact.
5.Conclusion.
Recycling is processing used materials into new products to prevent waste of useful materials, reduce the consumption of fresh raw materials, reduce the use of energy, reduce air pollution andwater pollution by reducing the need for conventional waste disposal, and lower greenhouse effect. Recycling is the third component of the three Rs "Reduce, Reuse, Recycle".
The first thing torecycle properly is to separate the different products in the place where they are used: at home, in the office, at school, etc. And then the most important thing to do the recycling correctly is to knowwhat type of waste is each product. You have to differentiate between biodegradable and degradable materials. The first ones don’t need to be recycled because they disappear by themselves in thenature in a certain period of time. So we have to know what degradable materials can be recycled.
Nowadays we must recycle these materials:
-glass.
-paper.
-cardboard.
-plastic.
-steel.-aluminium.
-copper.
-bronze.
In Spain we have four main containers: one for glass (with green colour), one for paper and cardboard (with blue colour), one for plastic (with yellow colour) and onefor the rest of wastes.
Apart from this, in Spain there are containers for dangerous or big volume waste that can not be picked up by traditional services and also require a special treatment. Thesecontainers are called “RECYCLING CENTERS”. It’s another free recycling system.
Not all recycling centers accept any kind of materials. Batteries, medicines and electronic equipment are the mostcommon. However, the list of materials that can be left in these special containers is very large. We can leave:
-Batteries.
-Electronic devices (washing machine, etc) and electronic material....
