FORO I
How can you explain the difference between diachronic and synchronic Linguistics with clear examples?
DIACHRONIC LINGUISTICS | SYNCHRONIC LINGUISTICS |
* Study the several changes andhistoric evolution of any language. * Study the linguistics modifications of a language from its beginnings to the present. * There are many reasons a language might change.  One obvious reasonis interaction with other languages. | * It is the opposite to diachronic and doesn´t care about historic changes. * Study the present or any particular point in the past of the language. * Asynchronic study is a comparison of languages or dialects, various spoken differences of the same language, used within some defined spatial region and during the same period of time. |
Example:The Norman French of the conquerers has long disappeared, but not before changing Anglo-Saxon into, well, a highly Frenchified English. | Example: A strong verb in Germanic language like English marksits past tense by means of changes to the stem vowel. Sing - sang - sung is irregular when viewed synchronically. |
