Introduction

Nowadays people around the world demand innovations in entertainment technology. Because of this demand entertainment industries have been looking for something new that can reach its clients expectations. One of the most important things clients want is to be part of what they are playing orwatching.
Because of this research for a revolutionary innovation in entertainment, they have finally found something that completes the industry, economy and consumer´s expectations at once: 3D technology.
3D technology is the key entertainment has been looking for a long time in order to open the doors of success.
This is one of the reasons we decided to create this monographyaround this specific boom in entertainment called 3D technology. For us, this is one of those ideas that completely changes the way we see entertainment and it’s a symbol of success and futurism. Our generation is full of expectations about what it´s coming next. Maybe 3D is just the start of a chain of inventions in order to make the experience of watching a movie the most realistic possible.This essay will examine 3D backgrounds in order to understand its history and how it has improved. We´re also going to explain how 3D technology is made and how it works. Finally we focus on the economic analysis of its success in the market.


Chapter 1: Backgrounds and Transition of 3D

3D technology has been with us in different forms for over 150 years. With the beginning ofthe era of motion pictures in 1890, William Greene created a pattern for making a 3D movie but this method could not be used in theaters. Ten years later Frederic Eugene Ives patented his stereo camera rig in 1900. This camera was made with two lenses fixed together ¾ of an inch apart but did not have major success. Later on June 10, 1915 Edwin Porter and William Waddell presented the first largescale test in a theater that showed different situations like rural scenes in 3D. Recent developments in technology have made it more available to consumers and this may increase the possible application of 3D technology in the near future.
People nowadays prefer 3D instead of 2D for many reasons. The biggest reason is how they watch the movie. With 3D they see that the characters appear tobe coming out of the screen which is very different than 2D. While 2D pictures are only tall and wide, 3D images are tall, wide and have depth. Another reason we can list is that people want to use the special 3D glasses because they wonder what other people that are watching a 3D movies are seeing and are curious to use the glasses to know how the way they see movies will...
