The growth of Internet, the globalisation of trade, and the rise of information economieshave
recast the role and impact of information systems in business and management. Internet
technology is supplying the foundation of new business models, new business processes, andnew
ways of distributing knowledge. Cias. are relying more Internet and networking technology
for conducting more of their work electronically, linking factories, offices, and salesforces around
the globe. Leading-edge companies are extending these networks to suppliers, customers, and
other groups outside the organization so they can react to changing customerdemands and
market shifts. This course aims to provide students with an in-depth background of the digital
integration of the firm and the use of Internet technology to digitallyenable business processes
for electronic business and electronic commerce. We will discuss new applications and
technologies that improve firms’ relationships with customers and createadditional value through

three fundamental strategic, management and technical issues with regards to information
systems in organisations:
1.understanding and exploring new capabilities of organizations, management and the
networked enterprise;
2. an overview of the information technology and telecommunications networkinfrastructure for managing distributed information systems;
3. enhancement of decision making, redesigning and the business value of information
technology in organisations.
