The Verb To Be.

The verb “To be” is said to be the most of the English language, constantly changing form, sometimes without much of a discernible pattern. Considering that we use it so often, it is really too bad that the verb “To be” has to be the most irregular, slippery verb in the language.

Present Tense:
I am
You Are
He, She, Is
We are
You are
They are
Past Tense:
I wasYou were
He, She, It was
We Were
You Were
They were

Simple Questions
We create simple yes/no questions by inverting the order of subject and the “To be” verb.
* Is your brother taller than you?
* Am I bothering you?
* Were they embarrassed by the comedian?
The same inversion takes place when “To be” is combined with verbs in the progressive:
* Am I working withyou today?
* Is it snowing in the mountains?
* Were your children driving home this weekend?

Example:
1I am in my house.
yo estoy en mi casa

2.I am thinking of you.
yo estoy pensandote

3.You are eating what you like.
tu estas comiendo lo que te gusta

4.You are worried for the test of English.
tu estas preocupado por la prueba de ingles

5.He is ready for the test ofmath.
el esta listo para la prueba de ingles

6.He is waiting that you come back.
el esta esperando que tu regreses

7.They are in the bus.
ellos estan en el bus

8.I’m in the school.
yo estoy en la escuela

9.I’m doing cleaning.
yo estoy limpiando

10.You are cooking somethinf delicious.
tu estas cocinando algo delicioso

11. You are sad because you feel alone.
tuestas triste por que te sientes solo

12. He is happy because his mother comes back tomorrow.
el es feliz por que su madre regresa mañana

13.He is ill of the heart.
el esta enfermo del corazon

14.She is waiting your answer in yahoo answer.
ella esta esperando tu respuesta en yahoo respuestas

15.We thinking on go to visit you.
el esta pensando en ir a vistarte.

Present these ofthe Verbs

Verbs have different forms, called tenses. The tense of a verb tells us when the action happens.
* when to use the Present Tense
* the different spellings for present tense verbs
* how "do" is used as a helping verb in the present tense
* how to make questions in the present tense
* the differences between the present tense and the present continuous tenseFor verbs that end with a y. If there is a consonant before the y, we drop the y and add an ies. If there is a vowel before the y, we add an s before after the y.

Vowel + S:

Buy- Buys
Stay- Stays
Say- Says
Play- Plays
Enjoy- Enjoys

Future Tense ¨Going To¨

Use going to to express whatwe intend to do in the future. Generally it is something that we have already decided to do.

Positive Sentence:
I am going to study today
Peter is going to visit his granny tomorrow
We are going to watch a movie this Saturday

Negative Sentence:
I am not going to go out tonight.
Luisa is not going to the party.
We are not going to the park.

Interrogative Sentence:
Am I going...
