Alan Alexander Milne was a British author, he was born in January 18, 1882, Scots by birth but he spent all his childhood in London. He published 18 plays and 3 novels, including the murder mystery The Red House Mystery (1922). His son was born in August 1920 and in 1924 Milne produced a collection of children's poems When We Were Very Young. He is the creator of thefamous bear “Winnie the Pooh”. I choose to talk about A.A Milne because when I was a little kid, I loved and I still love Winnie the Pooh,I used to watch the cartoon and because a few months ago, Ifound the history that inspire Milne to create Winnie the Pooh and his friends Piglet, Eeyore, Rabbit etc.
The main inspiration of the books and some poems to Milne was his son called ChristopherRobin Milne. It all start when Christopher visited the London Zoological Gardens with a neighbor and became friend with an American black bear called Winnie since then he always visited hisfriend at the zoo and he even named his own teddy bear “Winnie the Pooh” The bear cub was purchased from a hunter for $20 by Canadian Lieutenant Harry Colebourn in White River, Ontario, Canada, whileen route to England during the First World War. He named the bear "Winnie" after his adopted hometown in Winnipeg, Manitoba. "Winnie" was surreptitiously brought to England with her owner, andgained unofficial recognition as The Fort Garry Horse regimental mascot. Colebourn left Winnie at the London Zoo while he and his unit were in France; after the war she was officially donated to thezoo, as she had become a much loved attraction there he also had others stuffed animals, that inspired Milne to write some characters like Tigger, Eeyore, and of course Piglet.
Christopher beganfrequently, and often rudely, to be mistaken for the Christopher Robin portrayed in his father's books, Winnie-the-Pooh and The House at Pooh Corner, and in poems such as Vespers, Buckingham Palace,.
