POLAR BEAR
Polar Bear (Ursus maritimus) is one of the species in the family ofbears. This family is called Ursidae and assigned to the Order Carnivora carnivores. With regard to your eating habits, this bear is a carnivore and piscivore, the majority of their diet is meat fromother animals and fish.
Is from the north pole circumpolar region. Expands and recedes according to the limits of ice in the Arctic regions to Newfoundland and southern Greenland.
The maleshold most of the time alone.
This bear is nothing so good that it has been considered an aquatic mammal.
The gestation period can be six to nine months. Mothers have one to four babies. Born withtheir eyes closed, opening a month old. Adults are three to five years.
In its natural state is estimated that a polar bear managed to reach the twenty to thirty years. In captivity beyond thisage, one female exceeded forty-five years.
The food is based on seals and fish. They also eat birds, eggs and small mammals eat the summer some plants. They also eat carrion.
Polar Bear canreach a length in the head, body and tail of 2.5 meters, usually about 1.3 to 1.9 meters. Adult males weigh 400 to 600 kilograms, some weighing up to 800 kilograms, while females weigh 150 to 300kilograms.
The hair color in the Polar Bear is white, serves as excellent camouflage in the ice and snow. Has a thick layer of fat under the skin of four centimeters, serves as protection against the coldand helps to float in water.
It`s in danger of extinction due to the decrease in its area of occupancy and habitat quality.
