What do women really look for in men? One often hears that girls like bad boys. People think that what women look for in men has changed over the years and that in the past women were more realistic when choosing the right guy because they paid attention to those who would really love and take care of them, while today women choose the ones who are constantly breaking the law,in trouble or drugs; the cool guy. But I do not think there is any difference between what women wanted to find in a guy in the past and what they want today. They have always looked for someone who can help them to survive, to be best fitted in the world and with whom they believe will leave more and better offspring; at the end we are still animals and follow the instinct inside us. The termlove in these cases is only an abstract idea that replaces this word “needs”, needs that make women have some kind of advantage among the others.
The ideal man for every women is someone who can best protect and provide them, together with some characteristics such as being sweet, independent, stable, interesting, warm, detailed, among others. Women are constantly trying to choose the best“offer” based on these characteristics. I say best “offer” because usually men are the ones who choose a woman, while women are the ones who reject the men that have less “points”, or fewer characteristics that women consider can put them and their children in a better place than others and be more advantaged. Unfortunately, no one is perfect, and only a few are the men who protect and provide at the sametime. Usually men think that either characteristic is enough to offer.
One type of men are the ones considered the “good guys”. These guys are usually the ones who best provide the family and so, who bring stability to home. Women tend to rely more in these men as they are not looking for adventures or excitement. These kinds of men usually are good parents and women can feel comfortable withthem as they are emotional open and warm.
In the other hand, we have these other men who bring women protection. Usually they like to take care of their physical aspect. Women who are looking for excitement typically choose these men. The bad guys very often are breaking the law, does not like someone else to tell them what to do, so they are very independent. They fight for what they believe andare very determinate and so, they can end up being good fathers in the way that they would always stand up for the family if that is something that motivates them.
This idea of choosing the best provider and protector not only happens in our specie. If we think about it, those characteristics are the ones who every female in the animal kingdom are looking for. The king of the jungle: the lion hasto fight for dominance and if they are the stronger, it means they will be the more cable to provide food to the herd and they also will count with some privileges, putting themselves in a more advantaged place than others. Darwin in his book “On the origin of the species” essentially says that evolution is driven by natural selection, in which the individuals with the features that are betteradapted to the environment are the ones who will be passed through generations after winning the “struggle of survival”. Lions, like humans, follow their instincts to survive as a species. Lions attack, eat and reproduce to survive and to maintain the species. The females, for the same reason, choose the strongest and the one more capable to protect the family against predators, and the one who canbring more food.
What do women really look in men? Someone who can put them and their children in a more advantaged place and gives them the characteristics that can best help them to win the “struggle of existence” in our society.
