Cavipetrol uses Windows 7—in conjunction with the Windows Internet Explorer 8 Internet browser, Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2010, and the Windows Server 2008 R2 operating system—to improve mobility, boost efficiency, and reduce help-desk response times.

Business Needs
Based in Bogota, Colombia, Cavipetrol(the Corporation of Employees and Retirees of Empresa Colombiana de Petróleos Ecopetrol S.A.) is a privately held, nonprofit organization whose main objective is to finance housing solutions for its 12,500 members. Since its founding in 1962, Cavipetrol has promoted and cofinanced more than 1,900 homes throughout the country.

To continue providing exceptional customer service to its membership,Cavipetrol is committed to maintaining a sustainable IT infrastructure and promoting technological development across the organization. During the past 10 years, Cavipetrol has invested in Microsoft-based technology, including the Windows Server 2008 R2 operating system, the 2007 Microsoft Office system, and the Windows Internet Explorer 8 Internet browser.

Because the board of directors andthe IT department want to continue providing its 260 employees with leading-edge technology tools, Cavipetrol began looking for a solution that would help the company to improve remote access to the corporate network, boost productivity through increased efficiencies, and reduce incident response and resolution times for IT help-desk requests.

Solution
In January 2010, Cavipetrol learned aboutan opportunity to become an early adopter of the Windows 7 Enterprise operating system.
