What is a computer? Technically speaking a computer is “a programmable machine. This means it can execute a programmed list of instructions and respond to new instructions that it is given. Today, however, the term is most often used to refer to the desktop and laptop computers that most people use. When referring to a desktop model, the term "computer" technically only refers to the computeritself -- not the monitor, keyboard, and mouse. Still, it is acceptable to refer to everything together as the computer. If you want to be really technical, the box that holds the computer is called thesystem unit.” (TechTerm) In my personal opinion a computer is an electrical device that works for our personal use and helps us in different areas such as: school, work, for entertainment and so on.How does the CPU work? First of all what does CPU means? CPU is the abbreviation for “Central Processing Unit”. The CPU is “the responsable for turning raw data into valuable information throughprocessing information” (Technology in Action) in other words, CPU is the one that process the data of the computer.
To evaluate the performance, we have to see how much do we use it, I mean It dependsin the RAM, in the programs, in the viruses and other factors. In addition, one of the most important part of the computer is memory, is where the data is storage. Since the first moment we turn onthe computer, the memory start to work. According to Jeff Tyson “The computer loads data from read-only memory (ROM) and performs a power-on self-test (POST) to make sure all the major components arefunctioning properly. As part of this test, the memory controller checks all of the memory addresses with a quick read/write operation to ensure that there are no errors in the memory chips. Read/writemeans that data is written to a bit and then read from that bit.” (p.1) One common question is: How much memory do we need? Well according to the Book “Technology in Action” by Evans Marty, we need...
