Computing I: Introduction to computing for Academic Study
In this unit we will learn to:
* Identify the different parts of the computer systems
* Measure performance of the computer systems* Understand some basic networking concepts
* Understand the advantages and disadvantages of using networks
* Recognize the important of backing up data
* Protect your computer andyourself
1 )What is the most important function of a computer on your everyday life? 2) What are some functions wich a computer helps you?3) What kind of information de you mainly keep in your computer?
1) Research, entertainment, homework.
2) Easy and simple information3) Data, homework’s, videos, music.

Data versus Information
Data: raw, unorganized factsthat need to be processed
Information: when data is processed, organized, structured or presented in a given context, it’s called information.
* Data must be timely
* Data must be up-to-date* Data must be accurate
* Data must be useful
Information Processing Cycle
Input: data received by the computer system
Process: the conversion of data into useful information
Storage:technology consisting of computer components and recording media used to retain digital data.
