- Resumen

Durante el siglo XX el petróleo resultó ser un recurso esencial para nuestro país y el mundo en general en distintos aspectos, resaltando su uso para transportes, industrias y la producción deelectricidad.

En el subsuelo de nuestro territorio existen grandes yacimientos de petróleo que a partir de su descubrimiento fueron explotados por compañías, principalmente de EU e Inglaterra.

A partir del presidente Francisco I. Madero, los gobiernos mexicanos se dieron a la tarea de limitar el poder de tales compañías.

Pasando la Primera Guerra Mundial la demanda de petróleo aumentó, ya quemuchos países requerían de reservas para transportes y su propia seguridad nacional. El problema creció ya que las compañías extranjeras no pagaban los impuestos establecidos y los salarios de los trabajadores mexicanos eran muy inferiores a los de los extranjeros lo que provocó huelga.

Como resultado de tales protestas y la desobediencia de las compañías de aumentar el salario a lostrabajadores el presidente en turno Lázaro Cárdenas decidió expropiarlas el 18 de marzo de 1938 por lo que tales empresas tuvieron que cederle a México maquinaria, pozos e instalaciones.
En lugar de las compañís surgió una sola Petróleos Mexicanos (PEMEX). El gobierno de EU, en aras de mantener buenas relaciones con México tuvo que aceptar la decisión del Presidente Lázaro Cárdenas.

The history of oil in Mexico began in 1900, when President Porfirio Díaz and foreigners had special privileges that allowed them to be masters of the natural resources of Mexico.

As was the importance of oil and what it might represent for the economy, December 24, 1901, Porfirio Díaz gave the Petroleum Act in order to boost the oil, so many facilities and concessions given to investorsforeigners.

Madero, seeing foreigners stayed with all earnings, issued a decree establishing a special tax on oil production and ordered to register companies operating the country and controlled 95% of the business.

Later, in 1915, Venustiano Carranza in 1915, established the Technical Committee of Petroleum and three years later established a tax on the oil fields to retrieve something andcontrol the industry. Of course I protested and foreign companies seized land models with oil, but workers at the refinery of "The Eagle", tired of being exploited, held a strike that led to the start of the oil unions.

However, it took several years of strikes, problems and output resources to the alien, prior to the decision to remove the foreign profits of Mexican oil.
