ABM-ABBREVIATION FOR ACTIVITY-BASED MANAGEMENT \ CONTROL
BASADO EN LA ACTIVIDAD ABM
Abnormal demand-An unanticipated customer order. This order may not be in the sales
plan or may come from an unanticipated source. It can also be an unusually large
order that consumes available-to- promise at the expense ofsatisfying other customer
orders. See: outlier.

ACTIVITY-BASED COSTING (ABC)/ COSTO BASADO ENACTIVIDAD ABC
A cost accounting system that accumulates costs based on activities performed and
then uses cost drivers to allocate these costs to products or other bases, such as
customers, markets, or projects. It is an attempt to allocate overhead costs on a more
realistic basis than direct labor or machine hours
Un sistema contable que acumula costos basados en actividades realizadas y luego usaimpulsores de costos para asignar estos costos a productos u otras bases, tales como,
clientes, mercados, o proyectos. Es un intento para asignar costos elevados(reales) a
una base más real que la labor directa u horas de las máquinas.
APPRAISAL COSTS / COSTOS DE VALUACIÓN
Those costs associated with the formal evaluation and audit of quality in the firm.
Typical costs include inspection,quality audits, testing, calibration, and checking time.
Son aquellos costos asociados con la evaluación formal y la auditoria de calidad de la
firma. Los costos comunes incluyen inspección, auditorias de calidad, prueba,
calibración y tiempo de verificación.
AVERAGE COST PER UNIT / COSTO PROMEDIO POR UNIDAD
The estimated total cost, including allocated overhead, to produce a batch of goodsdivided by the total number of units produced.
Es el costo total estimado, incluyendo el sobrecosto asignado, para producir una serie
de productos el cual es dividido por el totalde unidades producidas.
AVERAGE FORECAST ERROR / PRONÓSTICO PROMEDIO DE ERRORES
1)The arithmetic mean of the forecast errors.

BALANCE / BALANCE
1)The act of evenly distributing the work elements between the two hands performing
an operation.
2)The state of having approximately equal working times among the various
operations in a process, or the stations on an assembly line.

BENCHMARK MEASURES / MEDIDAS DE CALIDAD LABORAL
A set of measurements that is used to establish goals for improvements in processes,
functions, products, etc. Benchmark measures are often derived from other firmsthat
display "best in class" achievement.
Grupo de medidas que es usado para establecer metas con el fin de mejorar los
procesos, funciones y productos, entre otros. Dichas mediciones frecuentemente
vienen de otras firmas que exhiben logros como "Las mejores en el ámbito".
BUSINESS PLAN / PLAN DE NEGOCIOS
1)A statement of long-range strategy and revenue, cost, and profit objectives usuallyaccompanied by budgets, a projected balance sheet, and a cash flow (source and
application of funds) statement. A business plan is usually stated in terms of dollars
and grouped by product family. The business plan, the sales and operations plan, and
the production plan, although frequently stated in different terms, should agree with
each other.
