COPYRIGHT

The concept: It establishes the author of a work as the owner of the right to copy that work and the concept of a fixed term for that copyright. It was created as an act "for the encouragement of learning", as it had been noted at the time that publishers were reprinting the works of authors without their consent "to their very great detriment, and too often to the Ruin of them andtheir Families".
It is a form of intellectual property that gives the author of an original work exclusive right for a certain time period in relation to that work, including its publication, distribution and adaptation, after which time the work is said to enter the public domain. Copyright applies to any expressible form of an idea or information that is substantive and discrete and fixed in amedium. In many jurisdictions, copyright law makes exceptions to these restrictions when the work is copied for the purpose of commentary or other related uses (See Fair Use, Fair Dealing). However, other laws — such as trademark and patent law — may impose additional restrictions that copyright does not.
Reproduction rights: It is a legal foundation that allows the author of a work to prohibit theprinting and copying of his work.
Public Communication Right: It is the right that allows the author or the holder of the work to authorize the printing or live execution of his work, like theatrical representation of a work or the execution of a symphony by an orchestra. When music is playing on clubs, an airplane, or even on a mall this right is being executed.
Translation Rights: It is the rightthat allows the printing and publishing of a written work translated in other languages, to do this the acceptance of the author or holder must be given.

In “Imagine No Copyright” book written by Joost Smiers, a politics teacher who is in the Arts and Economy´sInvestigation Group in Utrech School of the Arts in Holland, based on some other authors says:
(…)If we recognise that copyright is unfeasible, and unjustifiable, what should our response be? Immediately comes to mind that copyright provides an investment protection to blockbusters, best sellers and stars, and that it distorts cultural markets and pushes a wide variety of cultural expressions outof sight. At the same time, cultural conglomerates controlling copyright dominate cultural markets by owning the means of production, distribution, marketing and reception of cultural expressions. From the perspective of democracy and fair competition this type of market control is not to be tolerated.

APPLICATION AREA
The copyright´s protection covers only the representation of something, not the idea. There´s no need to do paperwork to get the copyright of a work, the only thing is needed is the work.
In Mexico, according to the Copyright´s Federal Law, the copyright of a work lasts 100 years after the end of the year of the death of the author. There are two exceptions to this law:-The works that became open to the public before July 23rd 2003
-The works by its nature are protected by rights. In general, this means works created by someone who died before July 23rd 1928.
The Mexican legislation recognizes and protects three kinds of rights: moral, state and cone rights.
