Dear Investor, It gives me great pleasure to introduce the first edition of the Croatian Renewable Energy Sources sector investment guide. Here you can find the overview of the complete situation in the fields of renewable energy sources investments, Croatian energypotential, legislation, as well as incentives available upon realization of the investment project. We hope that the following pages you will help you recognize our country as a reliable business partner. The main goal of the Trade and Investment Promotion Agency is to improve the investment climate and provide quick and complete service to all potential subjects interested in investments within theRepublic of Croatia. Compliant with the Republic of Croatia’s Energy Development Strategy, the renewable energy sources sector is a sector with great economic significance for Croatia. This guide is our first step in attracting and promoting investments in this sector. We would like to use this opportunity to thank the Energy and Mining Directorate of the Ministry of the Economy, Labor andEntrepreneurship for their help in creating this guide.

Wisdom from the Past for a Better Future
„We should utilize natural forces and thus get all of our power. Sunshine is a form of energy, and the wind and the tides are manifestations of energy. Do we use them? Oh, no! We burn up wood and coal, asrenters burn up the front fence for fuel. We live like squatters, not as if we owned the property.”
Thomas A. Edison, 1916

"Tesla invented, or at least theoretically conceived, almost all electronic devices familiar to us today. Every time you turn on your computer, remember the greatest scientist in history, because alternating current is generated in Tesla's three-phase generator andtransferred by Tesla's high-voltage power grid, Tesla's coil provides voltage for the image on the monitor, and the wireless mouse utilizes radio waves that were firstly generated by Tesla. This is only a small part of this great engineer's legacy who owned more than 1,000 patents."
NIKOLA TESLA
Antun Matejčić, BEng. ( July 10, 1856. Smiljan – February 7, 1943 New York )

Renewable Energy Sources Investment Opportunities

• Scientist and inventor who developed a number of patents and invented devices that shape our life today

According to some estimates of world's energy resources, the oil resources are expected to last about 50 years, natural gas - 65 years, coal - 150 years, and nuclear energy 85 years. Huge oil and gasreserves are accumulated in areas for which the exploitation technology still has not been developed, or whose exploitation price is too high at the moment.

In order to meet mankind's increasing needs for energy, new technologies are necessary in addition to conventional generation. Generation from renewable sources isthe basis for sustainable development of our civilization.

• Discovery of the magnetic field and construction of the AC generator are among the greatest discoveries in the past 500 years. It shaped the world as we know it today • On the 100th anniversary of his birth in 1956, the unit for magnetic flux density was named Tesla (T).
