I start with the meaning of educative model. An educational model is a compilation or synthesis of various theories and pedagogical approaches that guide teachers indeveloping curricula and the systematization of the teaching and learning process. In other words, an educational model is a conceptual pattern through which the parties are outlined and the elementsof a curriculum. These models vary according to historical period, as their validity and usefulness depends on the social context.
Montessori education is an educational approach developed by Italianphysician and educator Maria Montessori. Dr Maria Montessori, born in Ancona, Italy, in 1879, became the first woman to be granted a medical degree from the University of Rome. Her interest ineducation began whilst she was working with intellectually disabled children in an asylum where she was employed as a doctor. Through experimentation and close observation of the children's responses,she began teaching them through the use of a variety of graded, manipulative equipment. Eventually, these children passed a state examination designed for 'normal' children. Montessori questioned whywas it that 'normal' children could not do much better than those children with whom she was working. From her experiences and observations, Montessori concluded that given the correct environment,equipment and 'teacher', young children were both able and eager to learn. She believed that education began at birth and that the first six years were the most important, both physically andintellectually. She also believed that children learn differently from adults.
