Paper and textbooks were scarce in the colonial New England so boys and girls recited their lessons until they memorized them. Todaywe have plenty of textbooks and digital information in our computers.
As children grew older their schooling prepared them for their eventual roles inplantation life, today we prepare to go to university and develop then as professionals.
In Colonial New England boys studied more advanced, academicsubjects, the girls learned to assume the duties of the mistress of a plantation. Today we both girls and boys have the same privileges of studying whatever wewant.
The school days for girls were somewhat different in the Colonial New England. Girls learned enough reading, writing, and arithmetic to read theirBibles and be able to record household expenses. In our school we have a more complex education were we learn determination and perseverance. We learn tofulfill the demands of the school. We also learn to meet deadlines and hand in the homework on time. Moreover, we learn to face stress and pressure. In school,students learn to overcome challenges. Students with strength of character will be well-prepared to face the challenges of work and life in the future.
