Chapter I:
“Evil will never find peace. It may triumph, but it will never find peace”
Into the slush, dry tatters of autumn leaves were freezing. Dusk had fallen, and as the storm was coming, thewoods were getting colder and colder. It seemed a blast from an icy wind of winter had arrived sooner than expected to town and it was here to stay.
That night the moon didn´t show her glimmering faceas it hid back the milky opaque clouds; darkness covered the town that seemed deserted. Although Halloween was closer, no decorations dazzled the town (no pumpkins patched, no jack-ó-lanterns, evenno trick-or-treating!). The tall Victorian houses full of cobwebs looked strange and silent, as if they might all be empty inside, like the houses of an abandoned movie set. They looked as if they wereempty of people, but full of strange watching things. There was a wrongness about them that was for sure.
The town was perhaps the most unpleasant one in the world. It was called Peurville, anunknown town near Transylvania. Peurville ran through fields that were a sickly gray color, in which a handful of scraggly trees produced apples so sour that only one look at them would make you sick; theyseemed to dissolve into tears as they hopefully waited to fall. Peurville was traversed the Gloomy River that contained extremely unnerving fish as water was polluted and had a slimy green color, sothe entire area smelled bitter and cyanide strong. The smoky air was mixed up with the fog and distorted the vision.
As the moon eclipsed the sky those days, Peurville transformed into a ghastlytown where not even crickets were heard, as memories and beliefs still lived there without the intention of ever going anywhere. As rumors had it, few kilometers away, deep in the woods where no onecould hear or see, laid a spooky mansion where the biggest crow ever seen, plump and sleek, with rainbow shiny black feathers, kept an eye on it perched on an ancient brown oak tree´s twig; the shadows...
