People Realism Period Changes
American Realism was a turn ofthe century idea in art, music and literature that demonstrated through these various types of work, reflections of the period. If it was a cultural representation, or a scenic view of the cities,these images and works of literature, music and painting represented a contemporary view of what happened, an attempt at defining what was true.
The artists in this period used the sensations, texturesand sounds of the city to influence the color, texture and look of your creative projects. Mention the Ashcan School was a group of artists from New York City who tried to capture the feel of turn-ofthe century New York City, with realistic and unglamorized portraits of everyday life. These artists not only represent the rich and promising Fifth Avenue socialites, only lower-class immigrants andcultural rich textured. A critic of the time did not like your choice of topics, including alleys, housing, slum dwellers, and in the case of John Sloan, taverns frequented by the working class. Blackgang became known as revolutionary and apostles of ugliness.
The most well known artists at that time were Robert Henri; (1865-1921) was an important American realist and a member of the Ashcanschool. Henri was interested in the spectacle of ordinary life. He focused on individuals, foreigners, moving quickly into the streets in towns and cities. He had a comprehensive, rather than a comicportrayal of people, often using a dark background to add to the warmth of the person portrayed.
