Use of Passive

Passive voice is used when the focus is on the action. It is not important or not known, however, who or what is performing the action. Example: My bike was stolen. In the example above, the focus is on the fact that my bike was stolen. I do not know, however, who did it. Sometimes a statement in passive is more polite than active voice, as the following example shows: Example:A mistake was made. In this case, I focus on the fact that a mistake was made, but I do not blame anyone (e.g. You have made a mistake.).

Form of Passive

Subject + finite form of to be + Past Participle (3rd column of irregular verbs). Example: A letter was written. When rewriting active sentences in passive voice, note the following:
• the object of the active sentence becomes thesubject of the passive sentence
• the finite form of the verb is changed (to be + past participle)
• the subject of the active sentence becomes the object of the passive sentence (or is dropped)
PAST TENSE
The past tense (abbreviated pst) is a verb tense expressing action, activity, state of being in the past of the current moment (in an absolute tense system), or prior to some otherevent, whether that is past, present, or future (in a relative tense system).
In English, there are two distinct types of past tense:
1. Preterite (or simple past)
2. Present perfect (see perfect aspect)
Each of these may also be found in the progressive (continuous) aspect.
Simple past is formed for regular verbs by adding -d or–ed to the root of a word. Examples: He walked to the store, orthey danced all night. A negation is produced by adding did not and the verb in its infinitive form. Example: He did not walk to the store. Question sentences are started with did as in Did he walk to the store? Simple past is used for describing acts that have already been concluded and whose exact time of occurrence is known. Furthermore, simple past is used for retelling successive events. That is why it is commonly used in storytelling.

What is a past participle?

A past participle indicates past or completed action or time. It is often called the 'ed' form as it is formed by adding d or ed, to the base form of regular verbs, however it is also formed in various other ways for irregular verbs.
It can be used to form a verb phrase as part of the present perfect tense.
Forexample:-
I have learnt English. (Learnt is part of the verb phrase 'have learnt')
It can be used to form the passive voice.
For example:-
Her hair was well brushed.
It can also be used as an adjective.
For example:-
As an adjective: He had a broken arm. (Broken is used here as an adjective.)

COMPUTER PARTS
A personal computer is made up of multiple physical components of computer hardware, upon which can be installed an operating system and a multitude of software to perform the operator's desired functions. Though a PC comes in many different forms, a typical personal computer consists of a case or chassis in a tower shape (desktop) and the following parts:
The motherboard is the main component inside the case. It is a large rectangular board with integrated circuitry that connectsthe rest of the parts of the computer including the CPU, the RAM, the disk drives (CD, DVD, hard disk, or any others) as well as any peripherals connected via the ports or the expansion slots.
Components directly attached to the motherboard include:
• The central processing unit (CPU) performs most of the calculations which enable a computer to function, and is sometimes referred to as the"brain" of the computer. It is usually cooled by a heat sink and fan.
• The chip set mediates communication between the CPU and the other components of the system, including main memory.
• RAM (Random Access Memory) stores all running processes (applications) and the current running OS.
• The BIOS includes boot firmware and power management. The Basic Input Output System tasks are...
