Preparing the FED
- All FEDs are supplied with 24 V DC power. - The power consumption rating is included in the data sheet for the respective FED. - A 24 V connector plug is included with the mounting kitfor each device. - Please remove the battery cover strip from battery powered devices prior to initial start-up (pull out the red tab attached to the cover strip at the back of the device). - The battery is then automatically connected to the electrical circuit. - The following data are backed up at the device by the battery: - Real-time clock - Event list - Recipes (if any exist) ATTENTION:Project data are stored to flash memory!!!

Connecting an FED to the PC
- Connect the FED via the Ethernet port to your PC -Using serial connection the the PC port has to be connected to the COM port at the PC with the cable FEDZ-PC / TN 533 534. - Some FEDs are only equipped with a PLC/PC interface, in which case the genderchanger included with the FEDZ-PC must be used - The panel menu can be entered by pressing and holding the enter key for approximately 3 seconds. - For devices without an enter key (touch-screen devices), the touch screen must be pressed and held at any point which does not display a touch button for approximately 3 seconds.

The FED Panel Menu
- The panel menu includes the following functions:

: For direct selection of any page within the currently loaded project : Queries the alarm list : Queries the event list : Opens a window for entering the password : Starts the configuration module : Opens a window for enteringdate and time : Opens an access window for PLC address ranges (depending upon driver) : Opens the FED system information window : Exit the system window

Installing the FED Designer
- Start installation from FED Designer CD -Select „Setup.exe“ from the folder „FED Designer“ in the appropriate language folder - An installation program is started whichprovides you with all necessary instructions.

Setting up a Project File
After starting the FED Designer, first create a „New“ application / project
In the „New Project“ dialog box the Project Name as well as the storage Location will be defined

PLC Selection
- Select the “Configure Controller” function from the “Project” menu. - Select External or Internal controller - Click on Select protocol -Select your driver -Click on Controller Setup - Select PLC Model and type in the IP address of your PLC
Note: If more controllers are connected to the panel click on “Access Multiple Controllers”
