First day
I remember the day I came to Canada like it was yesterday. I know my life in
Colombia was over even I didn’t wanted.
Start a new life is not easy and less when you have to startfrom learning a new
Language. For many people in my country coming to Canada is the biggest dream
It was my dream too, but when you are here you realize that everything is differentNothing is like you thought it was.
This doesn’t mean that I don’t like Canada because believe me I love it but it doesn’t
Mean either that was easy for me to adapt.
I remember one of my firstdays in this school I can even remember how nervous I
was and I remember that I wanted to go to the bathroom but in those days I don’t
even know how to ask if could I go, so in my class was aguy who speak Spanish he
was from Colombia too, I thought at some point that he could help me because he
knew English but then I realized he was not willing to help me so I decided not to
askhim for help .
Once the class was over I went to home and it was inevitable not to feel depressed
And alone even though my sisters were with me I was sure that they feel in the same
Way.After a couple of days I didn't want to return to school because it was really
Traumatic coming to a place where you don’t understand what people are saying
So I decided to tell to my mom thatI didn’t wanted to go to this school never again
And the only thing that I wanted was to return to my country obviously I had not
Chose and I had to stay here, but the first year of being herewas very depressing
I was crying almost every night and on my mind was only the wish to return to my
Country .
After two years of being here I was adapting myself a little more now theschool was
Nice for me I had already made friends and now at least I know how to ask “if can I go to the bathroom”
The desire to go to my country was already not so much then it was a good sing...
