GABRIEL GARCÍA MORENO

Born on December 24, 1821 in Guayaquil, main port and commercial city of Ecuador. It was the eighth son of a distinguished family and numerous, as his father Gabriel Garcia Gomez, born near Ponferrada, León, Spain, was solicitor trustee of Guayaquil, and his mother, Mercedes Moreno y Morán Butrón was the daughter of perpetual governor of the city council, sister of thearchdeacon of Lima and the judge in Guatemala and aunt of Cardinal Moreno, primate of Toledo.
