Genetics, A lack of respect.
Genetics will change all of us if we admit it; it will change our bodies, our social system, our ecosystem and will lead us to a slow death as a race. The human genesmodification is based on changing the “defective” gene of a living cell by introducing a virus that carries the “healthy” one. There are two lines of genetic engineering: Somatic and germinal line. Thefirst one pretends to intervene in specific organs of an already living person, without changing the genes on his spermatozoon or egg. The second one pretends to change the genes directly from theeggs, spermatozoa or underdeveloped embryos. This practice affects every single cell in the resultant body and transfers these changes to future generations.
We all belong to a global ecosystem namedbiosphere, or “mother earth” as it is commonly called, that has the power to self-regulate her essential conditions, where we got our niche as specie and make part of a food chain, like all the livingand nonliving beings we coexist with. This is possible because the planet has passed thought many changes, an evolution which has lasted millions of years, and also the evolution of our specie.Thinking that we can control our home, the one we belong to, our brothers the animals, the ones we could not live without, and trying to change ourselves in so little time with genetics (something thatwould take millions of years as a natural way), is kind of cheeky and pretty risky. Talking about the effects on our social system and glancing to the future, it can be expected that the economy, themedia and the industry will be controlled by the members of the “gen rich”, while “the naturals” will work as laborers with low salaries. Those two classes could be converted in “social species” and woulddefinitely separate the human race, leaving one so much farther than the other, like the relation we have now with chimpanzees.
