Goal Statement

REVISITING MY GOAL STATEMENT

There have been basically two points on which I have focused this year and which were mentioned in my goal statement as important tools to reach my life long goal everGrowth

The first objective I planned to work on was my getting to know teachers a bit better. In this sense, I think I have been going to the teachers’ room more often for different reasons and Ihave encountered a welcoming atmosphere. Teachers have always had something to talk about or something to ask about and it has been a starting point for informal talks both for personal or academicmatters, which I think we have both benefitted from. My contact with the teachers in my new focus group has also been more constant not only personally but through mail too. I have made sure they haveall heard from me at different instances so that they know I’m available for them. One of the endeavors I included in my goal statement this year was a survey I would run among the teachers in my focusgroup at that moment asking them for feedback on how they had felt while being under my direct supervision. Even though the results of the survey were on the whole pretty favorable, the part I wasequally interested in was the way in which they thought I needed to improve. One of the things they mentioned in that survey was that they felt I needed to be more encouraging in terms of the progressthey had made up to that point.

Those results would reinforce what I had chosen as my second most important objective for this year, too.

I decided to change the approach towards my feedbackgiving. Apparently, I had failed in praising teachers enough when it came to showing my appreciation for the hard work. I have reflected on my feedback giving and added a more positive attitude in such away that it is noticeable for them that I do know they have progressed and improved.
