Helioculture

Helioculture is a newly developed method of making gas components such as diesel and at the same time carbon dioxide is reduced from the atmosphere. Helioculture is only used byJoule-Biotechnologies and has helped the future by creating this method. Joule-Biotechnologies genetically engineers micro organisms that intake solar energy, carbon dioxide and brackish water (thesalinity concentration is between fresh water and sea water) and at the end of the process excrete the fuels which are later on collected. The type of microorganisms used has not been revealed yet, however,the president said they are not algae, not cellulose and not corn. He also claims to be the first company to use modular solar panels to produce liquid energy. The process is completely renewablesince carbon dioxide is released but then taken in by the organisms; the organisms excrete fuels which then are burnt hence releasing carbon dioxide which will result in the organisms taking in the gasand over and over again until the organisms die.
An important case study is in Cambridge since it is the only place in the world that is investigating Helioculture. Joule-Biotechnologies is located inthe U.K. and the U.S. The company plans to start building a facility that will be able to produce more than 20,000 gallons of fuel per acre each year
Helioculture is very similar to the process thatmakes fuel from algae, but it doesn’t use algae. Oils made from algae usually have to be refined into fuel, whereas the product of helioculture doesn’t have to be refined at all.
According to JouleBiotechnologies, its product will compete with crude oil at $50 a barrel.
This process also works with gray water which is nonindustrial waste water from sources such as baths and washing machines.Compared to other biofuels, although expensive, helioculture is the one that has the more advantages. For example, it doesn’t damage the ozone layer and therefore doesn’t increase global warming....
