History of the Powerlifting
There are few documents that reveal the beginning of powerlifting as organized sport, but considering that it is a sport of force that fights against gravity, the hypothesis that the stone age already used the first dead weights, not with a bar and a balanced records, as at present, but with different work objects such as stones or logs you can venture. Thepowerlifting begins to practice at the end of the fifties of the last century, in the mythical gym bodybuilding that fashionable began to put in the United States. Initially was a way of showing the evolution of the force without having to perform complicated movements of weightlifting, as it was much more comfortable to perform movements such as squats, press of banking and died in the mythical two weighttimes and torn.

Evolution was slow but, little by little, you are spreading around Europe, and on May 14, 1977 was founded the European Powerlifting Federation (EPF) and is held in Birmingham (Great Britain), the first championship of Europe, in April 1978. Then the practice of the powerlifting was a sports reality, which soon spread to other continents. The IPF currently has more than75 member countries.
Competition
Powerlifting competition takes place in the following manner:
Each competitor is allowed three attempts in each type of uprising, its prestige and the organization in which they compete. The best of their valid attempts is that account for the total of the competition. If two or more competitors get the same total, the lift with lower body weight is placedabove the heavier lifters.
The lifters compete against others of the same gender, age and weight category. This ensures that records of lifters like Lamar Gant, which stands on deadlift 5 times its own weight, are both recognized as those of Andy Bolton, who holds the current record for the World Powerlifting Organization in dead weight.
Comparisons of lifters and scores across different weightcategories can be made also using handicap as the Wilks Formula systems.
Training
The generally used many different training systems. Conventional training for powerlifting weight increases gradually and is decrementan the repetitions over time, although today there is greater emphasis on explosive power and speed.
On training, must look for improvement in three exercises, so that, apart frommaking the concrete exercise training, should work with other basic exercises that can give strength to the main muscle groups involved in the powerlifting.
Sit-ups
