1. GENERAL OBJECTIVES
By the end of the course, the student should be able to create and interpret moderately demanding oral and written texts in diverse situations. You will be able to maintain your point of view in formal andinformal contexts, achieving and supporting it with effective oral and written communication.
• Listening comprehension: You will be able to analyze, synthesize and comprehend long speeches, understand specific details in news and most pictures in Standard English.
• Reading comprehension: You will be able to read (essays, periodicals, biographies, articles) issues and identify principalarguments and positions. You will understand brief literary narratives.
• Oral expression: You will be able to interact with native English speakers with a certain level of fluency and make your point clear in formal and informal discussions. You will be able to present clear, detailed descriptions about a wide range of topics of personal interest. You will produce speeches of 3-5 minutes intrios, pairs and individually.
• Written expression: You will be able to write clear, detailed passages on a wide range of topics of personal interest. You will be able to write essays with a clear introduction, development, and conclusion. You will write passages of 300-500 words and incorporate correct citation of sources.
