Cyber Bulling

“I hate you”, “You are stupid”, “You are ugly”, “Nobody likes you”, “You are fat and ugly and nobody will like you”
These phrases, are several phrases that some people, and specially the young ones have to listen to and read every single day of their lives. These people, who suffer this type of bullying, cry every day and pray that their parentslet them miss school, because for these students, school is like hell. Their class-mates insult them, humiliate them via web in a hostile manner. This is Cyber bulling.
Kids report being mean to each other online beginning as young as 2nd grade. According to research, Cyber bullying starts to be more “dangerous” in middle school, and girls are more likely to engage in cyberbullying than boys.This, is a list of tactics often used by teen cyberbullies.
* Pretend they are other people online to trick others
* Spread lies and rumors about victims
* Trick people into revealing personal information
* Send or forward mean text messages
* Post pictures of victims without their consent.

As you can see, cyberbullying is humiliating, and no one wants to bein the position of a victim, but, what are the intentions of the cyberbullies? How can we stop cyberbullying? How do the victims react? How the cyberbullie chooses the victim and why? What are the governments doing? These are some of the questions that we made to us to research about this project.

Definition of the concept
In order to be able to understand the different cases we decided tosearch for the definition of Cyberbullying. Cyberbullying is defined according to Wikipedia, as the use of modern communication technologies to embarrass, humiliate, threaten, or intimidate an individual in the attempt to gain power and control over them. Bullying is all about power, the imbalance and abuse of power. We think this definition is useful to understand the concept.
Almost everyadolescent has access to internet nowadays and most of them have a mobile phone. Therefore, it is not surprising that cyberbullying through these new technologies is increasing. To put cyberbullies to a stop it is necessary to know who they are, what they do, and why they bully.

Why do Cyberbullies bully?
This is a very common question that people ask themselves. We researched different theoriesthat explain why, and we found out that some of the reasons are:
* Jealousy motives: This is a very common case of cyberbullying in girls. This happens very often in cliques, when the members excludes one member of the group for some reason and bullied her or cyberbullied her.
* Control motives: Some teens use this method to gain control over another, such as for the victim do his/herhomework.
* To get attention: In some cases the cyberbullying is used to get their peer´s attention by humiliating the victims.
* Revenge: The revenge motive is often used to embarrass a person who has humiliated you.
* Scapegoat: When the cyberbullie accuse the victim of making something they are guilty for, and they accuse them although they are innocent.
Although Cyberbulliesand victims know each other from school, cyberbullying continues after the school bell has rung. Cyberbullies continue bothering their victims in their homes, the 7 days of the week. Cyberbullying never stops, it will continue until the cyberbullie is satisfied, or until the victim suffers like they want, up to the point of forcing them to change school, or even worse, commit suicide.

Howcan we stop cyberbullying?
There are many things that can be done to combat cyberbullying. The most important thing a victim of cyberbullying can do is not respond to the bully, do not play in to the bully's games, do not answer emails, do not respond to posts, do not engage in a chat room exchange, and do not copy what the bully is doing. The best thing you can do is to ignore the bullying...
