Horward Schultz is an American businessman, president and managing director of Starbucks Coffee Company, itfranchises a with a particular philosophy of the business that possesses more than 10.000 establishments in the whole world. He was born in Brooklyn, New York in 1953.
Howard Schultz was the majorone of three brothers of a family of low middle class. It dealed studies in the Canarsie High School and, with a great economic effort on the part of his parents, could graduate in communications forthe Northern Michigan University in 1975. To little of finishing the studies, it began his professional career as apprentice in Xerox's sales department. Later one incorporated Hammarsplast, a companydedicated to the plastic components subsidiary of the Swedish Perstorp, of which he would manage to be a vice-president.
Starbucks had born in 1971 on Pike Place's historical market in Seattle,Washington, as a small shop of sale of coffees of import, a difficult business in a country slightly used to the consumption of this product. The name, which derives from the novel Herman Melville's MobbyDick, was evoking the romantic aspect of the sea and the seaworthy tradition.
In 1982 Howard Schultz joined to the business as marketing manager, and the same year, during a trip to Italy,discovered the famous express and, especially, the cultural studding that, with several centuries of history, was surrounding the consumption of the coffee in the Europe. His idea was to reproduce it in TheUnited States. " My conclusion was that not only we would serve coffees, but we would create an environment in which the intimacy of the relation with the space and the experience of the coffee couldreceive life ", it would affirm in his autobiography. But it did not have it easy, and his attempt did not convince his Superiors. Finally, in 1987 it convinced several investors to buy the company...
