Idk What This Is Asking

I can’t help but stare in awe as I turn page after page of this old, worn book. Looking at the fading pictures, I find it hard to believe how much I’ve changed throughout the years – not only physically, but mentally as well. Growing up, I went to a Catholic grade school and middle school with a total of 300 kids, 40 in my class, then went to a public school of 1,500 for high school. Although thesettings were completely different, they shaped me to be who I am today, and made me into a person that is a perfect fit for the University of Green Bay.
Throughout the past seventeen years, I have acquired many skills that, I feel, can benefit your campus. I am a hard worker, I volunteer to benefit both my church and the community as a whole, I have challenged myself academically in school toprepare myself for the rigorousness of college courses while still maintaining a high grade point average, I have stayed active and involved in the school, I have gotten a taste of the work field by holding a part-time job for over a year, and I am a very sociable person who enjoys meeting new people, making friends, and bringing the community together.
At my grade school, they were very adamantabout helping others and making sure that, no matter how busy your life is, you always give back to the community. I really took that idea to heart, so I continued that well into my high school life, and I plan on continuing to give back to my community for the rest of my life.
Starting the summer after my freshman year, and the following two years, I decided to go on a mission trip to David,Kentucky for a week through my church, St. Boniface Parish. It was, honestly, one of the best experiences I have ever had in my life. As a group, we would take on three or four housing projects each year to complete. The first year, my group built an addition onto a trailer from scratch; the second year, we also built an addition onto a trailer from scratch, but we also roofed the entire house afterwe completed the addition. Then, last summer we reroofed a house and started to renovate a house that had a severe kitchen fire about six months or so before. All three were completed within the time span of five days, and the first two were done by a team of about 12 high school girls. Growing up in the suburbs Wisconsin, I never saw true poverty. So, seeing how some people live wasunbelievable, especially the first year, and I picked up a lot of skills and met most of my best friends on that trip.
In addition to the mission trip, every so often I would volunteer at an organization called Kid’s Closet. Kid’s Closet is an organization that accepts children’s clothes donations, and once a month they have a day where families that cannot afford clothes for their children can come in andfill a bag full of clothes for each child to take home with them. So, normally the week before the day the families come in, I would go in and help sort and change out clothes. More often than not, my friends would also be there helping out, and we would talk and catch up on each others’ lives while we sorted the clothes and it was always a blast.
Throughout high school, I have taken a morerigorous schedule in order to prepare myself for college courses. In both freshman and sophomore years, I took honors classes to prepare myself for the Advanced Placement (AP) classes I would go on to take in my junior and senior years. Although they required much more work, time, and studying than I was used to, I overall enjoyed the classes and did relatively well in them. After completing them, Ifelt and still feel I am prepared for the rigid curriculum of college.
In addition to taking AP classes, I have taken many academic electives along with my electives – such as four years Spanish in addition to minor preliminary study in grade school, and various business classes to decide what direction in my major I would like to go – I also work at a local restaurant, Roberts Frozen Custard,...
