  -   Tourists must go through the Customs office on arrival and declare the contents of their luggage

  -   Small gifts such as cigarette lighters, pens, foreign cigarettes, liquor, perfume and even shampoo can be offered as a friendly gesture to the people of Hanoi and Vietnam.
  -   Handshake is the most common form of greeting somebody.
  -   Photocopies of your ID cardsand passports should be carried and the original documents should be kept in a secure place.
