Internet advertising and it’s growing potential for businesses

As years go by, technology keeps advancing and the internet keeps growing wider and wider and reaching more and more people around the globe. All that is needed is a computer and an internet connection or some sort of wireless connection and it’s as easy as that. For speed, it always ranges depending on the signal or the capacity it has. The faster you want your internet connection, the more itcosts now. Of course the web has its advantages and disadvantages. Some of the advantages are that the internet has become so popular it can be accessed in an easier way. Another is that businesses have a way to reaching people faster without so much hassle. A disadvantage that the internet comes with is that you need certain hardware such as a computer or laptop that has internet capabilities anda secure internet connection. I believe that one of the alternative competing technologies would be mobile phones. They are growing in popularity faster than the internet is and they also provide internet connection that is getting faster and has more capabilities. Just about every big business does use a laptop or a computer and has internet capabilities to do their business work; whether it’s adial-up connection or a DSL connection; it just depends on what the company is looking for.

When it comes down to trying to spread the word of your company what better way but by using the internet? It can reach millions of people all around the world without leaving your seat. Ever since the early 90’s, society has grown more and more accustomed to the World Wide Web and uses itfor just about anything. Whether for business, personal, education, or for entertainment, society has made the internet a much popular topic. Marketers and researchers have seen the growing trend and decided to take full advantage of it. Ever since the first ad on the internet back in 1993, according to Paul Kedrosky, internet advertising has been growing and has been known as a great way to getthe word around about the good or service their company wants to sell (“Web banner”, 2011). There are all kinds of internet speeds and each has its own different capabilities.

“Internet is a short form of the technical term internetwork,[1] the result of interconnecting computer networks with special gateways or routers” (“Internet”, 2011). The Internet Engineering Task Force(IETF) gives protocols that inform people about the responsibility for guiding architectures to build an internet software system. Internet protocol addresses are used to access the internet and there millions of them. Each one is used for each router or telephone connection that will be accessing the internet. With the internet there are so many capabilities that have made a business’ work easier onthem. There are things such as e-mail, chatting, video chatting, publishing advertisements and much more. The Internet has allowed companies to make video advertisements as well and play them before a video on Youtube and Hulu. This has become a very popular way businesses have gotten their products sold. There is also internet sites such as eBay and Amazon.com that allow other businesses to selltheir products online and promote their products to customers without having to play advertisement videos or have advertisements on the side of every web page. They do this by gathering a single user likes and dislikes depending on what products they have looked at online and recommending products they believe the customer would like to buy because it’s similar to what they were looking forduring their visit to their website.
To access the internet, first of all, you need a laptop, computer, mobile phone, or tablet that has the correct hardware and software to have a connection with the internet.
