En la actualidad se vive la necesidad que tiene el saber argumentar, dado que es el medioprincipal con el que se defienden las ideas, se analizan de manera crítica los planteamientos de los otros, se rebaten los argumentos de mala fe, se develan las manipulaciones y, de manera muy importante, se pueden resolver conflictos de intereses; de ahí la importancia de aprender a argumentar. Por lo que, como docentes, creemos que en el currículum de los alumnos ha de haber lugar para una teoríade la argumentación que fomente de manera consecuente el pensamiento crítico y enseñe a argumentar racionalmente, con el propósito, entre otros, de lograr acuerdos que faciliten la convivencia social.
La enseñanza de la argumentación contribuye a la educación de un sujeto crítico, flexible y hábil oyente/ orador, lector/escritor; en definitiva, un ciudadano cabal, miembro de una sociedad...
