The orange
The orange is a citrus fruit edible obtained from sweet orange (Citrus sinensis ×) of bitter orange (Citrus x aurantium) and orange trees of other species or hybrids, Asiatic hybridsoriginating in ancient India, Vietnam or southern China. It is a fleshy husk hesperidium more or less thick and hard, and its pulp is typically formed by eleven segments filled with juice or grape skins,which contains lots of vitamin C, flavonoids and essential oils.
It is smaller and sweeter than grapefruit and larger, but less perfumed than the mandarin. Existing species Citrus maxima, Citrusreticulata (mandarin) and Citrus medica (citron).
