2. Massachusets
• Lead by William Bradford
• Puritans(want to purify Church)

3. New Hampshire

• They are given Northern Mass, then divided
4. Maine
• Sir Fernando Georges
• They are given Northern Mass, then divided

5.Maryland
• Founded by Lord Baltimore
• In honor of King Charles’ wife, Henrietta Maria
• Freedom to worship Catholics

6. Connecticut
• Charter Colony
• Thomas Hooker, from Mass.,migrates and establishes Hartford for political and religious freedom and sea access.

• Royal colony, by James Oglethrope, refuge for criminals, all citizens had to bemilitiamen.
• Founded by a desire to create a buffer state between Carolinas and Florida
• Establishment of a haven for debtors who clogged England’s jails and for persecuted Protestans.
