To understand the geniality and the tremendous scope of the Leonardo Da Vinci, it's very important to know some words about the age before The Renaissance in Europe.

After the end of the EasternRoman Empire in 476 AD and the whole Middle Age until the end of it 1453, the knowledge, the arts and science was almost a sin for the Catholic Church. That's why the historians call this era “The DarkEdge”.

It's in the end of this era, in April 15th of 1492, just the year that Christopher Columbus discovered the land that later will be known as America. When Leonardo Di Ser Piero da Vinciborns in a house of Anchiano, three kilometers from the Tuscan town of Vinci in Italy.

His father was Ser Piero da Vinci (a Florentine notary), but because Leonardo was born from a not married couple,he was brought up in the home of his paternal grandfather (Ser Piero) and his step mother, a peasant woman named Caterina,

After that, the Leonardo's father get married again on a neighboringvillage, while he was married to another woman. Later, his parents had more children, each in their respective marriage, which gave Leonardo a total of 17 half brothers and sisters, who always maintainedcontact with him.

Both Leonardo and his father moved to Florence, where the boy received the finest education on the city that becames the center of artistic and intellectual though of Italy. Healso had access to valuable library books that belongs to family and friends of his father.

Leonardo it's always described as handsome, persuasive in conversation and a fine musician and improviser.At age of 15, his father sent him as an apprentice to Andrea del Verrocchio's workshop, the most important artist of Florence.
