Natives of the End of the World

La presencia humana en estas tierras australes se remonta doce mil años según lo comprobado por los hallazgos arqueológicos en Monte Verde, localidad cercana a Puerto Montt. Estas poblacionesoriginarias sintonizaron su existencia con los ciclos de la naturaleza y desarrollaron su cultura en armonía con el medioambiente. Esta sabiduría ancestral ha resistido los embates del tiempo y aún se expresa en los rituales nativos que celebran el equilibrio cósmico entre el hombre y el entorno.

The human presence in these southern lands dates back to twelve thousand years ago according tothe archaeological findings in Monte Verde, place situated close to Puerto Montt. These original populations tuned their existence with the natural cycles and developed their culture in harmony with the environment. This ancestral wisdom has resisted the poundings of time and still expresses itself in the native rituals that celebrate the cosmic balance between man and nature.

Patagonia, Una Delimitación Histórica

Los primeros mapas de América fueron elaborados por cartógrafos españoles para trazar sus dominios en el Nuevo Mundo. Con fines administrativos el extenso territorio fue dividido en gobernaciones y capitanías. La repartición correspondiente al cono austral del continenteamericano fue identificada con el nombre de Tierras Patagónicas. Esta nominación está inspirada en las crónicas del italiano Antonio de Pigafetta sobre la expedición que dio la primera vuelta al mundo. Geográficamente la Patagonia se ubica al sur de una línea imaginaria que recorre el curso del Río Negro en Argentina y el Río Calle Calle en Chile. Actualmente este destino alberga a dos naciones separadaspor la Cordillera de Los Andes. Chile administra la parte occidental y Argentina tiene soberanía en el lado oriental. Los territorios patagónicos chilenos se extienden desde el paralelo 39 Sur en la ciudad de Valdivia hasta el paralelo 54 Sur en el Cabo de Hornos.

The first maps about America were created by Spanish cartographers in order to draw up their dominions in the New World. Withadministrative purposes the vast territory was divided into governments and headquarters. The corresponding division of the southern cone of the Americas was identified with the name of Patagonian Lands. This nomination was inspired in the chronicles written by the Italian Antonio de Pigafetta about the first expedition that circumnavigated the world. Geographically Patagonia is located at the south ofan imaginary line which covers the course of Río Negro in Argentina and Río Calle Calle in Chile. Currently this destination of historical nature houses two nations divided by the Andes Mountain Range. Chile manages the western part and Argentina has sovereignty in the eastern side. The Chilean Patagonia territories stretch out from the 39 parallel south in the city of Valdivia to the 54 parallelsouth in Cape Horn.
