USER MANUAL

1. INTRODUCTION This manual provides information on the installation, configuration and use of the main instrument functions. The manual is not intended for general use, but for qualified technicians. This term indicates a professional and skilled technician, authorised to act in accordancewith the safety standards relating to the dangers posed by electric current. This person must also have basic first aid training and be in possession of suitable Personal Protective Equipment. WARNING! It is strictly forbidden for anyone who does not have the above-mentioned requites to install or use the instrument. The instrument complies with the European Union directives in force, as well as withthe technical standards implementing these requirements, as certified by the CE mark on the device and on this Manual. Using the meter for purposes other than intended ones, understood by the manual content, is strictly forbidden. The information herein contained shall not be shared with third parties. Any duplication of this manual, either partial or total, not authorised in writing by theManufacturer and obtained by photocopying, duplicating or using any other electronic means, violates the terms of copyright and is punishable by law. 2. GRAPHIC SYMBOLS

Some instructions in the manual and on the device are highlighted by graphicsymbols to draw the reader’s attention to the operational dangers. The following graphic symbols are used: DANGER! This warning indicates the possible presence of voltage higher than 1kV on the marked terminals (even if for short periods). WARNING! This warning indicates the possible occurrence of an event which may cause a serious accident or considerable damage to the device if suitableprecautionary countermeasures are not taken. ATTENTION! This warning indicates the possible occurrence of an event which may cause a light accident or damage to the device if suitable precautionary countermeasures are not taken. NOTE This warning indicates important information which must be read carefully.

3. DESCRIPTION

UPM304 is a digital meter able to measure the main electrical parameters onthree-phase systems. It provides accurate measurements even for distorted waveform. Four high brightness LED displays ensure maximum visibility even in difficult environment lighting condition. The working parameters can be easily set up by instrument keypad. UPM304 replaces multiple analog meters as well as single function meters such as voltmeters, ammeters, wattmeters, varmeters, frequency-meters,powerfactor-meters, energy-meters, etc. Standard configuration 3-Phase analyser, no. 2 digital outputs. The basic instrument can be customized with some options to fit to the specific application. UPM304 is a compact, cost effective meter operating both as a stand-alone device or as part of a more extensive energy monitoring and management network.

4. PRELIMINARY VERIFICATION

5. INSTALLATION
NOTE The equipment complies with the 89/366/EEC, 73/23/EEC regulations and following amendments. However, if not properly installed, it maygenerate a magnetic field and radio interference. This is why compliance with EMC regulations on electromagnetic compatibility is essential. 5.1 ENVIRONMENTAL REqUIREMENTS The environment in which the instrument is installed must satisfy the following features: • no vibrations • indoor area • temperature between -15°C and +60°C (5°F and 140°F) • storage between -30°C and +75°C (-22°F and...
