Monarchy

The word monarchy comes from greek monos : one, arkhey: ruler. This form of goverment concentrate all the power in one person, who is called monarch. The main characteristic ofmonarchies is that monarch holds his offie for life, unlike in republic where the president is elected for a certain amount of time, also the power of the monarch is inherited to his older son.

Thereare three kinds of monarchies:

• absolute monarchy

• limited monarchy

• constitutional monarchy

Origins

This is the oldest form of goverment and its origins come fromthe old rome. At the very begining there were 7 tribes, they helped each other against attacks from others kingdoms but they are independent one from the other, then etruscos came and conquered themand unified all tribes and founded rome. All the power was centralized in one person.

Pros and cons of the Monarchy governmental system

Monarchy pros:

• The decision are made by just oneperson, that is to say the monarch.

• Therefore, the decisions are quickly made and applied.

• There is a short interregnum, meaning almost immediate continuity of leadership.
• Itgives a sort of special status or connotation to the country part of a monarchy.

Monarchy cons:

• Decision made by the monarch might be having in mind his/her own (family, friends, ideology)benefit, only.

• Quick decisions might be rash and inadequated.

• There is no people’s participation in making decisions.

• A monarchy might be perceived as the the beginigs ofdictatorships and neo-liberalism.
