Nationalism
What´s the name of the feeling that makes you feel proud of your nation? That feeling is nationalism. Nationalism, according to Webster, is theloyalty and devotion to a nation. For me nationalism is the solidarity or union within a population which results from common symbols and culture.
Nationalism is born when a country population has onething, an event or symbol in common which creates a sense of empathy and solidarity with compatriots. It doesn´t matter if that event or symbol is a good or bad element that the compatriots have incommon. It could be a religious or political element or even a disaster. Nationalism makes the whole country society come together. This is what happened in Mexico´s 1985 earthquake. When a 7, 5 gradesof the Richter scale seism occurred on Mexico City, this disaster caused thousands of deaths, injuries and economic and infrastructure losses. The reaction of the Mexicans, and even of other countriespeople, was to help, and thank to them Mexico City could recover the beauty and power that it has today. So, when the society of a nation has an element that is, symbol nationalism is born.
.Nationalism appears before the formal nation does. People get grouped themselves to their similarities. These similarities have in common language, traditions, religion, and physical characteristics. Theensemble of all these similarities is what we know as culture. If you think of the culture of a nation, you instantly think about their language, traditions, religion, and physical characteristics. So,nationalism is the feeling of proud that you have about your country culture.
A nation is a synonym for “family” because the population is supposed to protect each other and look out for oneanother´s benefit. Nationalism is the “grandfather” of the nation and without it the nation would no longer survive, because it is what binds the country population. To conclude I think that we must move...
