Los orígenes del ser humano
El hombre pertenece al orden de los primates, grupo de mamíferos caracterizados por tener las manos -y a veces también los pies- prensiles, pulgar oponible a los demás dedos,órbitas sobresalientes hacia adelante y notable desarrollo del cerebro.
El siguiente gráfico muestra en términos de divergencia la distancia dentro de este orden. Las unidades que aparecen lo son de divergencia. Así la distancia entre el hombre y el chimpancé es de 1 en comparación con la distancia entre los monos del nuevo mundo y los antepasados comunes de los monos y los antropoides que es de 7.
DIVERGENCIA DENTRO DE LOS PRIMATES
Si Darwin estuviera en lo cierto, posiblemente hace 10 millones de años un homínido hoy en día desconocido (el eslabón perdido) habría comenzado la evolución humana.
