SIMPLE PRESENT NEGATIVE

SIMPLE PRESENTE NEGATIVO

To form the Simple Present Negative we must use the auxiliary verb –to do.(Para convertir una frase en forma negativa en el Presente Simple, tenemos que emplear un verbo auxiliar -to do.


Affirmativo Negativo

I sing well. I do not sing well.
(Yo canto bien.)(Yo no canto bien.)

To form the negative we add the correct form of the auxiliary –to do.
The auxiliary is placed behind the pronoun and behind the auxiliary we add
‘not’ followed by the verb inthe infinitive.
(Para formar el negativo, colocamos el verbo auxiliar ‘do’ detrás del sujeto.
Detrás del auxiliar viene la palabra ‘not’ y sigue el verbo en el infinitivo.

Pronoun + auxiliary +‘not’ + verb
‘to do’


Vamos a ver un ejemplo con todas las formas.


SIMPLE PRESENT NEGATIVE
To sing-cantar

Pronombre Verbo Auxiliar + Not + Verbo en el infinitivo
I do not singYou do not sing
* He/She/It does not sing
We do not sing
They do not sing
(* Para formar el negativo en la tercera persona singular hay un cambio en elverbo auxiliar.

Ejemplo: Bill works today. * work lleva ‘s’ porque es la
(Affirmativo) conjugación de la tercera persona
singular.Bill does not work today. * Aquí como es el negativo la
(Negativo) conjugación de la tercera persona singular no lleva ‘s’ pero el auxiliar
silleva ‘es’.
