Pixazza Report

1. Overview

Pixazza is a web service company founded in 2008 that acts as a nexus or facilitator of business transactions between customers and internet merchants. To accomplish this it has developed a technology that converts static pictures in interactive ones, by adding a simple java script code on any web. Regular customers are allowed to search for pictures ondifferent websites, and revealed information of pricing and similar products by passing the mouse over the picture. If they are interested in some specific product, they have the option to click on the picture to make a purchase and by doing that they are redirected to a website of a specific internet merchant. After the sale of a specific product has been made, the merchants pay a commission toPixazza. Some chosen people called “Experts”, play a very important role in this process by tagging and matching the pictures. We will explain the importance of theirs task afterwards.
According to the companies co-founder and CTO James Everingham, the idea for Pixazza appeared when his wife was trying to find a pair of designer shoes that were worn in the movie “Sex In The City.” She ended up buying asimilar-looking shoe in a store for half the cost. Everingham says that he felt that the experience of finding similar items you see in photos could be a valuable business. The Name Pixazza, comes from the words picture and piazza (central square in Italian cities). The companystrongly believes that pictures are the center or focus of many websites, and it is totally committed to revealing the information inside every Image. (source: www.pixazza.com)
Everingham said on 2008: “Pixazza has started a journey that could be a very successful and profitable experience. “There’s currently three trillion images on the internet,” he sad. “We want to turn every one into aninteractive experience”.
It is not something new that the web is changing every day, it has more colors, more information and more features with motion. A visual revolution is taking place, so business people must start thinking what resources they have to capture the attention of this “visual consumers.” In our opinion, Pixazza represents a very good alternative to attract this new kind of webcustomers. Nevertheless, it’s still a young company and it must continue evolving in order to beat its competitors and become widely recognized as the market leader.
