Divine Command Theory
Divine Command Theory

The connection between religion and morality hasbeen present since the creation of religion and the belief of God himself. The divine command theory gives pretty straight-forward point of view to morality; it states that our moral decisions must begoverned to what God dictates in his commandments. While there have been several forms of the theory, the original idea is still the same. In my personal opinion, I do agree on what the overall theorypoints out and I will explain my point of view in the next essay.
Some people may find it rigorist or old-fashioned to live your life according to what God commands, but it is worst for somebody tosay that they believe in God and that they don´t believe in the Divine Command Theory. If you believe in God, you believe him completely, not half-ways, this also implies that you believe in Gods tencommandments, and if his commandments are meant to be followed, then choosing to follow them will make you take moral decisions.
I do recognize that there are some subjects on the matter that arestill a little vague and must be dealt with. For example in Chapter one of “Doing Ethics (2010)”, they point to an ambiguous subject, “For example, the only way to avoid killing someone is by telling alie”. This phrase presents what most people argue against the Divine Command Theory. How can we say we are making moral decisions if we are breaking one of Gods commands to avoid breaking another? Inthese types of cases, it is our moral judgment that can guide us out of our dilemmas.
