1 George de Mestral (1906-1960) Was a Swiss inventor best known for coming up with the ribbon cling fastener, Velcro. One day in 1951, when he was out hunting, he noticed that his dog's coat was covered with burrs from the plants it had walked through. When he examined the burrs closely, he found that they could attach themselves topassing animals or to people's clothes by means of a large number of tiny hooks. He was reminded of a recent evening which had been ruined because the zipper on his wife's a dress wouldn't work. something which she detested happening!
