Procedure for cargo in transit between Arica and La Paz
Objetives
- Detail all the activitiesfor an efficient coordination for cargo in transit between Arica/La Paz.
- Identify procedures and lead times for each link of the logistic chain.
- Control and minimize logistics risk.
Scope- Since the arrival of the cargo to Arica port until delivery of the documents and cargo at destination place in Bolivia.

Responsibilities
- CUSTOMER:
o Send a pre-alert with all the export documents once the cargo has sailed from origin to advancewith all the customs procedures and pre-advice and program the truck loading dispatch schedule.
o Send the export original documentation via currier to 3PL once the original BL has been issued inorigin.
o 3PL with any documental or informative requirement from customs in Chile or Bolivia regarding the cargo.
- 3PL:
o Send pre-alert and original documentation to the customs agent inArica so they can clear customs.
o Confirm to shipper the arrival of the cargo to Arica Port.
o Have a supervisor in Arica for the arrival of the cargo, who will send a loading report and pictures.
oReport conditions of the material once it has been transfer to the Bolivian storage facilities at Arica port.
o Program a truck loading dispatch schedule.
o Issue the CRT and get the stamp on itfrom the Chilean authorities that certify that is cargo in transit to Bolivia so it won’t have problem to pass the border.
o Consolidate all import documentation and deliver it to the finalconsignee of the cargo.
o Have a supervisor in Arica each time a convoy is dispatched to La Paz, who will send a loading report and pictures.
o Send a pre-alert to the shipper and consignee each...
