Proyecto De Evsystems
Objective: In this experiment we are going to prove if sunscreens really work and if the higher SPF is the sunscreen the more effective.
Sunscreen really protects usfrom the UV rays?
The different sunscreen with different SPF levels makes difference?
We have been researching how we can prove the sunscreen effectiveness, so we find that the use of UV beads thathave a chemical substance embedded into the plastic that will change color when exposed to UV radiation and when you are in a place with no UV radiation the beads will remain white. There’s nosimilarity with skin, but the sunscreen are supposed to absorbed or block the UV light, so if the UV beads change of color because of the absorption of UV rays, when you put sunscreen on them the sunscreen issupposed to block and don’t let UV rays get absorbed by the beads. We decided to try that if we put the UV beads in a plastic bag and each one with a different sunscreen with different SPF we canprove if the sunscreen really works by letting enter less UV rays.
Materials:
Sunscreen with SPF 4,8,15,30,45,50
Cotton
UV beads
Paper
Plastic bags
Procedure:
First, use the piece of paperand divided in squares, in each one put the number of SPF of the sunscreen you are using. Second, place one or more UV beads in each square and then covered by a plastic bag. Then, in top of the plasticwith cotton place a little sunscreen so it covers the bead. Finally, expose the paper covered to sunlight and record the result.
